Where it started
First meeting in 1990, brothers Lawrence and James launched their business on a rainy day in 2014, buying their first development site at auction.
This site in Boondall on the outskirts of Brisbane had James on the tools renovating, while Lawrence navigated his way through the paperwork for the battle axe subdivision.
Now, with tools down, and the knowledge gained from 28 projects, they both lead a network of talented engineers, builders, planners, marketers and administrators.
Together, they have completed and sold over $19 million of new residential property.
The Brothers
James Stephenson
A skilled project manager and craftsman with a career in residential property.
Working with a small builder specialising in bespoke renovations James started his carpentry apprenticeship straight out of school. Rather than working on the tools, he saw an opportunity to apply his skills on a larger scale. Since 2014, he has focused on ion full time and has overseen the delivery of every single project.
James manages the day-to-day chaos of multiple sites across Brisbane, deeply understand the needs of the market, and ensures they are met in the products we deliver.
Lawrence Stephenson
An investor and businessman with a proven track record in ecommerce, cosmetics, agriculture and property.
Always looking out for opportunity, Lawrence started his first business in high school, selling all manner of gadgets on eBay. Now, he owns a cosmetics company with over 50,000 customers, runs the family farm, and works obsessively with James to continue the success of ion.
